Road Safety

Road safety has got to be one of the biggest worries for most parents. The risk of death or injury from an accident with a car is real and as such we've got to do something before it's too late for an unlucky person.

The drivers seem to think that the pedestrians should be more careful and the pedestrians think it should be the other way round. So what do we do? We need your suggestions to come up with a solution so please get in touch with us.

One solution may be to develop a scheme such as Community Speedwatch.

Community Speed Watch is a partnership between the police, the local authority and the local community. Volunteers from the community are trained by the police to use speed detecting devices to gather data on motorists who are speeding.

The sites chosen for monitoring are selected by the community in response to their local knowledge about where speeding is taking place or perceived to be taking place. The effectiveness of Community Speed Watch is as much a result of having a physical presence by the side of the road with a radar gun, as it is a result of sending warning letters to motorists caught speeding.
